NBS Level of Development
|LOD 100||Overall Building Massing indicative of Area, Height, Volume, Orientation and Location; no other elements such as walls, floors, etc. Information may be assigned to masses as applicable|
|LOD 200||Elements modelled as generalized systems / assemblies, of approximate shape, size, quantity, orientation, location. Information may be assigned to elements as applicable|
|LOD 300||Elements modelled as specific systems / assemblies of accurate shape, size, quantity, orientation, location and relationship to other Elements. Information may be assigned to Elements as applicable|
|LOD 350||Elements modelled graphically represented within the Model as a specific system, object, or assembly in terms of quantity, size, shape, orientation, and interfaces with other building systems. Non-graphic information may also be attached to the Model Element.|
|LOD 400||Elements modelled as specific systems / assemblies of accurate shape, size, quantity, orientation, location and relationship to other Elements, with complete fabrication, assembly and detailing information (sub-contractor / shop dwg level). Other information may be assigned to Elements as applicable.|
|LOD 500||Elements modelled as 'constructed' or 'as-built' systems / assemblies of accurate shape, size, quantity, orientation, location and Relationship to other elements, including any revisions that may have occurred during construction at Site. Customized Parameters related to Facility Management and other information may be assigned to Elements as applicable.|
BSI BIM standard
BIM Level 0
- 2D CAD drafting utilised – no collaboration
BIM Level 1
- Mixture of 3D concept work and 2D for drafting of statutory approval documentation
- Electronic sharing of data using a common data environment (CDE)
- No collaboration between parties but data is shared.
BIM Level 2
- All parties use their own 3D CAD models, not necessarily working on a single, shared model
- Collaboration is used. Data is exchanged between parties and design information is shared in a single file format
- Federated BIM model is created. Each party can combine data with their own in order to make checks.
BIM Level 3
- Full collaboration between all disciplines by means of using a single, shared project model which is held in a centralized repository.
